Star Sosa at Spectrum Fine Jewelry:  Star Sosa is the founder and owner of Spectrum Fine Jewelry in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Spectrum celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017.  Throughout her 20 years in business, Sosa has been active promoting local and regional artists and helping to advance the Wilmington arts community.

Operating on the “party principal” Sosa has hosted over 250 events in her gallery and jewelry store promoting local, regional and national artists, musicians and designers.  The first iteration of Spectrum was as an art and craft gallery located in Chandler’s Wharf in historic downtown Wilmington.  In the early days Sosa worked closely with the other local art galleries to promote the visual arts community and helped establish downtown gallery nights and joint promotional efforts.  Then in 2000, She moved Spectrum to its current current location in The Forum evolving over the years to focus specifically on fine designer jewelry.

Sosa is actively engaged in many facets of the local arts community.  She makes her space available to arts organizations for fundraising activities.  She supports the work of DREAMS of Wilmington and Kids Making It!  She is currently working to produce the Azelea Plein Air Paint Out for the third consecutive year.  This is in partnership with the Cape Fear Garden Club’s Azalea Garden Tour, a major fixture of Wilmington’s annual Azalea Festival.  The Paint Out event attracts fine artists from across the region to paint on site during the Azalea Festival and hosts a “wet paint” sale of said works.   A percentage of proceeds benefit environmental and beautification grant programs produced by the Garden Club.

Spectrum’s primary focus on a day to day basis is the creation and sale of outstanding fine jewelry, designed and crafted on-site.  They employ a full time, award winning designer and a master goldsmith.  Spectrum’s talented design team has received multiple awards and accolades from national jewelry competitions, earning a place as one of the most award winning studios in the Coastal Carolinas.  In addition the store currently features a distinctive display of abstract oil paintings by local artist, Dick Roberts.
